At the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Erfurt, the following position in the team of the professor of “Language and its Structure” with 20 working hours per week is open as of 1st May 2025:
Junior Researcher and Lecturer (f/m/x)
Pay category E 13 TV-L (50 %)

Area of Responsibility
The successful applicant will
- pursue his/her own further qualification (leading to a doctoral degree) in English linguistics or applied linguistics
- contribute to the teaching done by the linguistics department (esp. the unit “Language and its Structure”) for the B.A. English/American Studies amounting to two weekly teaching hours per semester
- support the research of this unit, especially with respect to the preparation of applications for external funding (of research projects, conferences, etc.) as well the organisation of academic events at the unit (workshops, conferences, etc.)
- participate in the administrative processes at the unit “Language and its Structure”, including the maintenance of the website of the unit (in German and English)
What we expect
- excellent or very good M.A. degree in Linguistics (with a profile in the linguistics of English), English/American Studies (with a linguistic profile) or Applied Linguistics
- excellent command of both German and English (level C1 or higher)
- knowledge of and experience with corpus-linguistic, computational or other empirical methods of linguistic research, including language-related statistics
- communicative skills as well as organisational skills more broadly
Some expertise in language-related programming, knowledge of further languages, first publications or conference presentations in linguistics present an advantage.

The position is initially limited to a four-year period, depending on the legal and personal requirements.
